Need some advice to make the best of a conference?

It is amazing to see people mingling during conferences at Vaalnest Boutique Hotel at Vaal Marina, Vaal Dam.
Some admit they sometimes hate the idea of ANOTHER conference. Others love it.
As a seasoned conference attendant over 30 years I realised it depends on yourself whether you enjoy a conference or not.
Yes, organisers can make the program extremely boring, but a bunch of people together can have fun mingling and learning from each other.
You should attend a conference with the right attitude. If you cannot stop complaining about everything, you will end up alone in a corner.
So, the presentations are not that great (your opinion) – why not use the opportunity to build new relationships with colleagues or experts in your field?
Find out who are the movers and shakers and pick their brains. That is one of the reasons you are there for -to learn. Not just for the food and cocktails.
If you hate small talk, be a good observer. You can learn a lot from watching people mingling at a conference. Those who are networking – they are the ambitious ones working their way to the top.
