Give your relationship a new boost
Do you want to give your relationship a new boost?
Many couples come to Vaalnest Boutique Hotel at Vaal Marina at the Vaal Dam for a much needed romantic break away. Many indicate the tranquility at the hotel gives them the opportunity to work on their relationships.
No relationship can survive without hard work from both partners.
Clinical psychologist Meredith Hansen suggests you should put your relationship first. It should be a priority in your daily routine. A text message, email, lunch- or dinner date at least once a month should make a big difference, she says.
Horror of horrors to modern couples … have tech-free times when you are not interrupted by phone calls, text messages, Facebook, checking your email or Twitter messages, says Silvina Irwin, a clinical psychologist who also leads workshops for couples.
“Let your partner feel he/she deserves your undivided attention.”
Therapist Jeffrey Sumber believes you should listen more than you talk. “Be kind and respectful.”
Silvina Irwin adds couples should not forget to be affectionate. “Hold hands, hug, cuddle before bed, kiss hello and goodbye and sit close together.”
Some more good advice from Meredith Hansen is to acknowledge both the big and little things your partner does.
“Treat your spouse as kindly as you do others,” she says.
“Remind yourself daily that your partner is the most important person in your life and thus should be treated that way.”
