People across the world united on Earth Day to appreciate earth's environment. Vaalnest lists 9 nature reserves across South Africa that encourage conservation of our environment.

Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve (Gauteng): The Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve is peaceful and has breathtaking wildlife. The mountain side offers hiking trails and even game drives that allows you to view the beautiful fauna and flora.

Table Mountain National Park (Western Cape): Dubbed as one of the new natural wonder of the world, tourists or bird lovers can find themselves watching penguins of the boulders beach

Kgalagadi Transfontier Park (Northern Cape): See Oryx and the Kalahari lion as they wonder the vast dry wilderness.

Addo Elephant National Park (Eastern Cape): This heritage site is home to over 400 elephants and these majestic animals share this space with other wild life including the buffalo which is one of the big five.

Golden Gate Highland National Park (Free State): Named after the light that reflects of its sandstone peaks, it also hosts bushman paintings of its rocky wilderness and is home to the rare bearded vulture.

On April 22 2015, marked Earth Day which is usually known to be celebrated with outdoor performances, depending on the drive all these activities can change every year as long as the initiative is aimed to empower people to conserve our planet.
